Shrestha is a psychotherapist, spiritual director, storyteller, and social justice advocate. She earned a Master of Social Work with a specialization in Mental Health from Loyola University Chicago, a Master of Divinity degree from Harvard Divinity School, and trained in social justice-focused spiritual accompaniment with Still Harbor. She previously served as a University Chaplain at both Wellesley College and Brandeis University. Currently, she works as a psychodynamic therapist at Depth Counseling in Chicago, IL.
As the daughter of immigrants, she has spent much of her life between two worlds, navigating her identities as Indian and American. She is also a childhood trauma survivor in recovery, and is passionate about helping others heal those intergenerational wounds that adversely shape their lives and the world. It is her belief that a more just and compassionate world can only be brought into being if we also do the work of healing ourselves. She brings a trauma-focused, anti-oppression, and multicultural lens to her work of helping folks explore issues relating to gender, spirituality and religion, race, class, sexuality, and activism.
She is the proud mom/aunt to two pitbull mixes, Clooney and Scout, and is lucky to be married to her best friend, Eric.
